2009-2014 SPAR Charity of the Year

2014 / 2013 / 2012 / 2011 / 2010 / 2009

Charity Partnership
Since 2009, 3Ts has been SPAR Charity of the Year, a SPAR BWG Group initiative which promotes awareness & fundraises through its network of over 400 SPAR & SPAR Express stores nationwide.  The programme has raised  in excess of €1,000,000 for 3Ts through a number of activities,  including publicity material, POS collection boxes, a contribution of 1 cent from SPAR own brand products and the sale of wristbands in every SPAR store.  3Ts is also supported through SPAR’s collaboration on the SPAR Great Ireland Run.   The charity featured on TV’s “The Apprentice” where contestants were assigned to design a product to be marketed in-store in the lead up to Christmas.  The resulting “Luv Bears” were a huge success.  At Christmas time, a group of SPAR retailers Carol Sing for the charity in Dublin Centre and in 2013 even recorded a couple of singles which you can download here.

Charity Partnership led to establishment of 1Life Suicide Helpline
In 2009 the first year of the partnership with SPAR/BWG, almost €250,000 was raised and this sum not only contributed to ongoing 3Ts projects and work, but played a major role in the establishment by 3Ts of the 1Life Suicide Helpline (1-800-24-7-100), which was at the time the only 24 hour crisis service in Ireland.  With the help of SPAR fundraising,  3Ts continued to fund the 1Life service until 2015 when Samaritans commenced provision of a 24 hour freephone service to meet this vital need (Tel: 116 123).  However, during the 6 years of 1Life, many thousands of callers had somewhere to turn in their time of crisis and received professional care and counselling to help them through their tough time.  All thanks to funds raised by SPAR BWG.
