NOONAN Group One Month Charity Challenge in aid of 3Ts
NOONAN Group are Ireland’s largest provider of strategically outsourced services & one of Ireland’s largest private employers with more than 7,500 staff, from all walks of life and from every town in every county in Ireland, servicing all 32 counties & across the UK.
Providing facilities management & other services across a broad range of public & commercial buildings from hospitals to shopping centres, NOONAN staff frequently deal with emergency situations in the course of their work, ranging from accidents & injuries, to critical illness incidents and the aftermath of attempted or completed suicides.
The NOONAN Group are thus acutely aware of the scale of the problem of self-harm & suicide within Irish society and so chose 3Ts as the beneficiary of their 2014 One Month Charity Challenge, calling on the generosity, goodwill & energy of its 7,500 staff to support 3Ts and help to raise awareness of the issue of suicide. The group set themselves a goal of €20k which they not only reached but exceeded.
Over the course of the month, staff throughout the group engaged in a variety of fundraising activities ranging from Ice-Bucket Challenges, to Static-Cyle-A-Thons & bucket collections in shopping centres.
As a finale to NOONAN’s month long campaign and to mark World Suicide Prevention Week, the team ran a 24 hour relay in the Phoenix Park from 11th – 12th September. NOONAN employees from every department & division, from all levels of seniority, and from the length & breadth of the country, participated to show their support for those bereaved by suicide and those struggling with their mental health.
RTE News Journalist Sinead Hussey and Spin 1038 DJ, Nikki Hayes showed their support by attending the start of the relay; FM 104’s Roadhog broadcasted live from the event and various celebrities & personalities got behind the campaign.
Commenting on this event, Singer/Songwriter, Brian Kennedy said:
“Suicide unfortunately touches all of our lives and is tragically on the rise. Noonan are doing an incredible thing by hosting this 24hr run in aid of the 3T charity and my heart goes out to everyone who has lost someone to suicide. Congrats on all your efforts and I hope you raise as much awareness and money as possible. Love Brian Kennedy. X”
Singer/Songwriter and Television Personality, Niall ‘Bressie’ Breslin, said:
“For years we have had a head in the sand approach to mental health in this country. People have struggled privately and feared seeking he…lp due to the stigma associated with it. We are slowly but surely normalising the conversation around mental health in this country and it’s great to see events such as this nurture this movement”
Our sincere thanks to all at the NOONAN Group for your tireless energy, imagination and enthusiasm and your generosity & goodwill in rising to the Charity Challenge in aid of 3Ts.
