DAA Staff Charity of Year

3Ts voted 2011 DAA Staff Charity of the Year.

Over the year, Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) staff raised a staggering €225,000 for  3Ts.

The charity is selected each year by a staff vote and the initiative, driven by staff at DAA Airports, demonstrates just what can be achieved through a dedicated and enthusiastic staff who use just a little bit of imagination and quite alot of hard work and persuasion to raise funds for their chosen charity.

A parachute jump, sponsored cycle, a row from Dublin to Holyhead, a fire station calendar, ceílí night, a Halloween party and numerous cake sales and raffles were just some of the events that contributed to the overall sum raised.

The donation to the 3Ts in 2011 was the largest sum ever raised by DAA staff in a single year. Over the previous five years, staff had raised more than €830,000 for five different worthy causes. The amount raised for 3Ts far surpassed previous years, which is an indication of how suicide has touched people’s lives.

The wide and varied events and promotions have provided 3Ts with a platform to raise awareness with the general public on the streets and in the airport, to select audiences whom we otherwise could not hope to reach.

The sum received was divided between a number of Suicide Prevention and Awareness charities with whom we work, with the following charities receiving €33,750 each:

  • Aislinn Adolescent Addiction Counselling Centre
  • Pieta House
  • SOS (Suicide or Survive)


A large percentage of remaining funds contributed to costs for the 1Life Helpline, Ireland’s only dedicated 24/7 Suicide Prevention Helpline on 1800 24 7 100.
