10 September is World Suicide Prevention Day #WSPD2020. This is a day to remember the many lives lost to suicide and to stand in solidarity with others whose lives have been devastated by suicide or who are struggling themselves. Although we remember loved ones lost to suicide everyday, this day may just be a good day to check in on someone you know who has lost a loved one to suicide or who you’re concerned may be feeling particularly low. Take the time to see how they are, lend an ear or simply show your support. If you can’t visit in person due to Covid restrictions, then give them a call or send them a text. You’d be amazed how much it can lift someone’s day to know that someone is thinking of them.
Light a candle tonight
And to mark #WSPD2020 this year, 3ts will be remembering our loved ones by lighting a candle this evening. We plan to have our candle at the dinner table so that we can remember times we’ve come together with loved ones over food. We’re inviting you to do the same, whether you’ve been bereaved by suicide or simply to show support to others. Look out for our pics on social media and please do tag us in yours #3tscandle #wspd2020.
